ANNOUNCEMENTS

This Sunday, January 1: We welcome Pastor Harold Westra to our pulpit today as Pastor Josh is on vacation. The Combined Evening Service will be in our church at 6:30 p.m.

Next Sunday, January 8: Church School classes and Men and Women’s Bible studies will resume again. We will have Installation of new elders and deacons during the Morning Service. The Combined Evening Service will be in the Reformed Church at 6:30 p.m.

We are in need of more volunteers for helping in the nursery at the Evening Service. If we can have about 6 volunteers, you would have a turn in the nursery about once in three months. This is not a huge time commitment. If you are willing to help out in this way, please see Bruce Kreun.

The Council has re-organized for 2017. New Council Members and their offices are as follows. President - Cal Tinklenberg, Vice President - Al Vis, Clerk - Glen Schoolmeester, Clerk of Records - Norm Kruse, Vicar - Duane Reitsma, Elder at large - Dave Holm.  President of Deacons - Al Van Dam, Building Fund Treasurer, Secretary, Building and Grounds - Clyde Kreun, General Fund Treasurer - Steve Hoekman, Special Offering Treasurer - Arvin Vander Woude, Benevolent Treasurer - Keith Westra.

Family Soccer Night will start again on January 11 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  All school age youth are encouraged to play, as well as semi-agile adults. Let’s have some fun inside the warm Chandler Christian School gym this winter!

The Dordt College Concert Choir is heading north on their winter break tour this January, and they are stopping in Edgerton!  They will have a concert at First Christian Reformed Church on Tuesday, January 3, at 7:00 pm.  We are still in need of families willing to host Dordt students in their homes following the concert.  The students would need to be returned to 1st CRC by 8:00 am the morning of the 4th.  If you would be willing to host Dordt students please contact Kevin Caspersen at (507)360-9698 or kevincaspersen507@gmail.com.

BIBLE STUDY FOR WOMEN - All women of the community are invited to study Elijah and Elisha, “Prophets with Power”.  Their fearless prophecies and remarkable miracles reveal the holy God who punishes sin and yet extends grace to the underserving.   The spring session of Coffee Break begins Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 9:30 a.m in the Fellowship Room of First CRC in Edgerton. Children’s Bible Story Hour for ages 3-Kindergarten is available.  Nursery will be provided.  Books are located in the southwest corner of the new kitchen at First CRC.   If you have questions, contact Thea (442-3512 or 227-9513) or Jean (442-5384). 

Save the date for the 2017 Day of Encouragement on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Dordt College. Keynote speaker will be Dr. Ed Stetzer.  The Day of Encouragement is geared towards all church members, and a variety of speakers will cover topics including: shepherding, parenting, worship, tech media, youth, preaching, and more.
